The €115 million contract BESIX France signed with Société des grands projets encompassed all architectural, facades and technical trade, as well as all external works on the esplanade of the station. The station covers a total area of 34,000 m² spread across nine levels, four of which are underground, extending down to 28 metres below ground.
The contract also included three service infrastructures dedicated to passenger safety, ventilation and smoke extraction of the tunnels (Ouvrage Cachin, Ouvrage des Etoiles and Ouvrage des Acrobates), and a system to reverse the direction of the trains (Ouvrage Finot).
BESIX's Engineering Department played a key role throughout the tender process, developing innovative solutions to optimise the project and align it with the client's objectives. This work ultimately contributed to securing the contract for the station's development.
The project's ambitious schedule, driven by the Olympic Games in 2024, required exceptional coordination and execution. While construction started in mid-2020, BESIX entered the project after major civil engineering and tunnel equipment works had already been completed by co-contractors. After ten months of coordination and interface management, BESIX completed the interior works, MEP installations and façade in just ten months following the completion of the superstructure in August 2023, demonstrating its ability to deliver under highly demanding programme constraints.
